Finance Committee
March 4, 2010
The Committee on Finance met on Thursday, March 4, 2010.
The meeting was audio taped for the record.
Members present were Alderman L. Charles DiPerri, presiding, Alderman
Michael Marchese, Councilors Sergio Cornelio and Cynthia Sarnie. Also
present were Alderman Michael Mangan and Councilor Rosa DiFlorio
Members absent were Alderman Sal Sachetta and Councilors Sal DiDomenico,
Carlie Smith and Daniel Napolitano.
Communication received from Alderman Sal Sachetta that he would be unable
to attend due to illness. Communication received from Councilor Carlie Smith
that she would be unable to attend due to a previously planned vacation.
Communication received from Alderman President Robert Van Campen that he
would be out of State and would be unable to attend.
The Committee considered a Resolution offered by Councilor Jason Marcus:
That the Finance Committee study a pay raise for the Mayor.
Mayor Carlo DeMaria, City Auditor Larry DeCoste, Budget Director Laureen
Chapman and Mayor’s Chief of Staff Melissa Murphy were also present.
Communication from Councilor Jason Marcus, the Sponsor, that he would be
unable to attend requesting that the matter be referred back to Sponsor.
Accordingly, the Committee voted: To report back to the Common Council with
a recommendation to refer back to sponsor.
